2 Jun

Two posts in a day??? W:-OW (wow face, duh). I began “Photo A Day June” today, and thought today’s pic deserved a story:

Why the crushed red pepper and parmesan cheese packets on my doorstep you ask? About 3 weekends ago, one of my oldest (as in length of friendship, duh) and best friends, Rebecca, came to Dallas to visit.

We hit up the usual bars, sang some karaoke (or at least I did!), and worked up a late night appetite so we headed to the pizza place down the street from my apartment. I told her that I NEVER actually purchase pizza there, it just kinda happens that I get some (that’s a totally different story!). Just as I suspected, we ended up meeting some randoms who offered up their pizza pie for sharing! SCORE!

While we feasted I found out these dudes lived in my apartment building so we walked back with them and ended up having a late night dance/sing-a-long party in their apartment…I know what you are thinking…”This sounds like the shady beginning to a horror film, Janice!”. But no worries – the only reasons I allowed this to happen were:

1. I was fairly confidant I could fight these them off if things got weird.
2. They were born in 1989 so I felt like I had some sort of power over their youth.
3. I was kinda drunk.

Well after the dance/sing-a-long party (which included renditions of “Call Me Maybe”, “A Whole New World”, and “Walking on Broken Glass”…just to name a few) Rebecca and I went back to my place, unharmed. That’s all you really ask for after entering into a random strangers apartment right?

The next day I received texts from the guy I saved in my phone as Don “Call Me Maybe” (shouting out to his signature song which he performed at least 3 times) telling me I left about 20 crushed red pepper packets (stolen from the pizza place of course) on his couch. My first instinct was “Dammit, I wanted those for my lean cuisines!”. Well low and behold, they got returned to me Monday morning when I opened my door to leave for work.

Since then, my little dancing elf (as I adoringly call him now him since he leaves me presents in the night) has left me green tea bags, parmesan cheese, and the mixture you see above (which I was greeted with this morning). Pretty random story, but it made me laugh this morning and ended up making day 1 of “Photo a Day June” a pretty funny story (and lit a fire under my uninspired to blog butt!)

Ps this post was entirely published via my iPhone! My laptop recently broke, and I am in the market for a new one. Which leads me to the great debate – PC or Mac?

Photo a Day May – fail

1 Jun

I attempted to participate in the “Photo A Day May” challenge many other bloggers and tweeters were doing and got really into it…at first. 😦

After 15 days I don’t know what happened, but I just stopped doing it! I really enjoyed the half that I did do so I figured I would share them anyways:

I vow to try harder for Photo A Day June, and I apologize that the sizing/layout of these photos is pretty jacked up. Someone teach me how to be a decent blogger please????

Next up – “Photo A Day June”!

My Obsession With Coral

2 May

It all started last summer when I attended a Premier Designs  jewlrey party hosted by my friend Liz. After much deliberation I decided on a three strand coral bead necklace and matching earrings.

The love of my life

(Via eBay) <–I def paid more than that for mine! 😦

From then on I was hooked! Later that summer, the Kate Spade bag I had been eying all spring was on clearance so I snatched it up !

So since I jumped on the coral bandwagon LAST summer, I like to think of myself as one of the original coral treandsetters since it is EVERYWHERE now! 🙂

I realized that I have accidently worn some kind of coral accent every day this week!  Should I keep the trend going??

First Fashion Friday

23 Mar

Ok – so if there was an award for “Worst Blogger of the Year”,  pretty sure I would win it.  I am already setting my April goals (I know it is still March!), and blogging more frequently is going to be on the list!  To encourage this I have a few things planned…one of which is Fashion Friday!  The past few months, I have been OBSESSED with Pinterest.  I have eased up a bit, but I currently have over 2000, random things “pinned”.  Some of my favorite things to “pin” are outfits.  I love when I see an outfit combo that I can easily copy with items I already own.  Jackpot!!  The other night, I was on a pinning binge and discovered the following outfit:

It first struck my eye because of the coral…I am in love.  As I looked closer, I realized I had almost the exact outfit!  I quickly pinned this outfit and planned to re-create it one day in the near future.  That day ended up being today!  It was pretty cool this morning so I thought it would be perfect weather for some layers.

Blazer – Forever 21

Jeggings- Rich and Skinny via

Shirt – Kohls, literally the shirt off my dear cousin Julie’s back one day after she decided she wasn’t a fan of it anymore

Cheetah flats – Target closer look:

Pretty close huh?  I was a little unsure about the cheetah flats, but I went with it.  I got a lot of compliments at the office.  unfortunately, the crazy Texas weather decided to get warmer throughout the day (not mad about that!), so when quitting time rolled around it was H-O-T!  I couldn’t wait to change!!!

Have a great Friday!

Spicy Ketchup

15 Feb

So I finally tried the new Whataburger Spicy Ketchup today! Sadly, it did not hold up to its expectation! It mainly tasted like ketchup mixed with to tabasco thanks! I’ll stick with my regular Whataburger ketchup + pepper! :). Happy Wednesday!

DRC 5 Mile Race

11 Feb

This past saturday I participated in the Dallas Running Club’s 5 Mile Age Handicapped race.  What is an age handicapped race you ask? I was unfamilliar as well…basically they started everyone staggered based on their age group, and the first 50 people got a medal. It was kinda redic because for the first 15 minutes, they were calling out age groups that didn’t have any participants (ie: 90 year olds). I ended up going inside the pavillian and buying some much needed running club shirts.  So finally, at 8:26 my age group (Women 21-34) was called and I set off on 5 miles at White Rock Lake.

Chilly morning at White Rock Lake

I had participated in a similar race with the running club back in September. It wasn’t age handicapped, but it was the same 5 mile course:

Since that was a good 5 months back, I was hoping to improve my time since I have been training for the upcoming Cowtown Half Marathon. My Previous time was 51:37:

September 2011

and on Saturday I finished in 47:30:

Mission accomplished! I shaved about 4 minutes off! I was super excited!!! I was also proud that I was able to hold a 9:30 pace! Tomorrow is the Hot Chocolate 15k. I am excited because it fit into my training program perfectly! My schedule called for a 9 mile run, so I figured it was ok to throw in an extra .3 for the sake of some chocolate fondue and brunch with some of my favorite ladies afterwards!  Now I am off to pick up my race packet, and get some pre-race margaritas – don’t judge! 🙂

Happy and Sad

8 Feb

I always feel like I really want coffee when I am already in a hyper/happy mood. After finishing off my Keurig Cappuccino just as I exited for my office, I decided I wanted more of a java buzz so I rolled into Starbucks.

I only got a tall since it was my 2nd drink of the morning (usually I make fun of people who only get talls – weaksauce). I was pleasantly surprised when I was greeted with such a “loving” cup ‘o joe:

🙂 I love holiday themed cups! I wish they would have busted them out sooner! They need to make some lucky St. Pattys cups!

My happiness buzz (or maybe it was just the caffeine from my 1st coffee) was killed a little bit when I got to my desk and realized my skinny caramel macchiato got jipped!!!

Oh well…I will just have to go a few more times this week to take advantage of the pretty VDay cups! 🙂
